Now, let's turn a sketch into an Pokémon
First you need to go to the Leonardo.ai and login or sign up.

Click "Image Creation" from the left hand panel on the homepage.

You now need to select which AI model to use to generate your images, using your picture as a reference point. This is done using a drop-down menu.

As we're transforming a sketch to an image, we're going to pick "Cinematic Kino" for this tutorial (it's one of my favorites). Of course, if you want to pick a different kind of model to produce a specific image, go right ahead!

Now click "Style". This will give you a list of options of styles you can choose from.

For this example, we're going to pick "Cinematic".

Now we need to pick our level of contrast.

This time around, we'll choose "High". This should increased contrast to make Pikachu stand out.

It's time to decide how patient you're feeling. If you are, then we'd always recommend choosing the 'quality' generation mode. This may take a little longer to generate, but gets the best results. But, if you're short on time you can always speed up the process by choosing the 'fast' generation mode.

Now you need to decide what dimensions you'd like your image output to be. I've gone with 16:9 for my art drawing output. Depending on what you want to use the image for, will determine which dimensions are best for what you're trying to achieve.

Next is to decide what size you want your image to be. I've picked small for this example. Of course, small images will pixelate when expanded. So, make sure you pick the right size for what you need.

Then you need to select how many images you want Leonardo.ai to generate.

I've chosen 8, to make sure we a variety of image to explore and choose from.

Then click on "Image Guidance". This is located next to the prompt input box, represented by a logo of a picture with a '+' icon. Click this icon.

Now you need to select "Character Reference". This will help Leonardo.ai understand the character you want to put into your image.
Alternatively, if you don't want the character to be the reference point for Leonardo.ai, you can select "Content Reference" instead. This will make the AI use a content in the image you provide as a reference point for its image generations.

Click "Upload an image". Then, you guessed it, you chose the image you want to upload.
I've already got mine prepared, to make this guide easier to follow.

We're nearly at the fun part. Select the prompt input box.

Then add your sketch to image prompt. Here's the one I used: "A happy Pikachu standing in a field".

You will now have a range of images to look through. Closely inspect them to see if they're what you want. If none are suitable, you can generate another batch.
If one is to your liking, simply click on the image to expand it for a closer look.

Now look at your creation. If you're happy with it, download it using the downward arrow button below the image.

That's it! You have now transformed a sketch into an image using Leonardo.ai.
